This was not one of those evenings.
Tonight was a fast, dizzying descent into Hades itself. It was as though someone had swapped my children for little heinous imps during the night. They were confrontational, overly sensitive, and whiny, all things that - truth be told - we've grown quite accustomed to. But what really clenched it was that, for some reason, tonight the kids decided that they no longer enjoyed things they've loved for their entire lives. Eggs? They "don't taste the same" as my usual eggs. Milk? It was making her throat hurt. Homemade, fresh-from-the-oven bread? The bread-snarfers suddenly "weren't sure they'd like it".
Meanwhile, Dad's on the phone with a long-distance friend he can't give up on, both kids are
But never fear! That's why God invented early bedtimes, heh. And whatever that can't fix (not much), looking at pretty yarn knit up in a lovely pattern can.

I hear you on those Some Days. It's been those Some Days lately around here too. Whiny cranky kids. An off and on Fever for the little one. A PED day in the middle of the f'ing week!?? Who invented that!? Especially when mama is almost 34 weeks pregnant....
But yes... bedtime... thank goodness for bedtime! I have no idea what I would have done without bedtime yesterday. It was one of those long, pull your hair out type of day. The type of day where your older toddler draws on your WHITE kitchen floor tiles with blue crayon 10 minutes AFTER the cleaning lady leaves...
We both survived. The kids made it to bed alive. And then there was knitting :)
Bedtime is definitely great, although the newborn is kind of on his own schedule.
Ha! good hook on the post - you had me going for the first paragraph... I was thinking 'oh GOOD, she deserves one of those nice nights after the past few days...' then I thought 'wait a minnit...'
The hat, however, is looking swell. Completely the right call to change yarns.
Hey I've had some of those heinous imps at my house too. Sorry about sending them your way...I was just getting kinda tired of them. Oh my gosh the hat is gorgeous! That is the most perfect bleuish gray shade.
That hat pattern and yarn choice are simply scrumptious together!
