Noch auf sich warten

Recently an old friend from Library School turned me onto Google's translate tool, and ever since then I've been peppering my emails with German, Spanish, or whatever else tickles my fancy. I tend to make liberal use of CAPITALS (and parentheses too), but I've really been enjoying the foreign language thing. It's totally süchtig. :)

As predicted, I finished Colette this week. I actually wove in the ends in the metro on Thursday or Friday morning, which completely freaked the Muggles out. I swear, when I pulled out my Chibi and mini-scissors, people started nudging each other and staring, and you could just hear the "Oh My God, I think that woman's sewing!". I don't think I would have gotten more attention if I'd pulled a baton out of my arse and started twirling it while singing Hello my baby!

Now, I know what you're thinking. Where are the pictures, dude? Well, it turns out that blocking bamboo is a bit tricky. Tricky as in, it practically doubled in size. So I'm giving it another go as we speak, and if it doesn't work, I'll give it a few minutes in the dryer tomorrow. Fingers crossed, people.

To hold you over, take a gander at Hamsa, which I cast on last night.

I think this little scarf is going to be just what the Arzt ordered. Lovely yarn, lovely colours, and an easy yet satisfying pattern. Sweet!

Tonight Phil and I are heading to the city to see Total Crap 6 with my brother-in-law and his girlfriend. And of course, we'll be stopping by our favourite Vietnamese Phô restaurant along the way! Mmmmmm, soup...

Happy Knitting Everyone! I'm off to knit for a bit while I wait for Phil to finish his latest oeuvre!

Show me the Colette. I need to see it. And, BTW, Is Phil available for sewing lessons? Much appreciated, ta!

Blocking bamboo can be a challenge -- it tends to stretch terribly. I learned not to soak my garment first, rather pin it out to size and then mist it with a sprayer. Hope the dryer works for you. Love the german -- you're pretty suchtig yourself! (insert umlaut over 'u')

Hey just bought myself a Janome serger.. What does Phil use as a sewing machine... ? Just curious really. Because, you know last Summer my colleague - who is also a stewardess for AT - went to London.. At I got her to buy me some Liberty fabric. I shopped patterns around and got the urge of a serger.. Can't wait ! As for knitting this Colette is gorgeous and I like it when you wear the collar down on your shoulder a bit.. No bra it means !! ha! ha!

Phil...nothing says secure in one's gender like sitting at a sewing machine with yards of hot pink kite fabric. LOVE IT!!!!!
Your kites are so cool. I wish my guy had a super cool hobby like this.

It's a bland 200$ kenmore that Tara gave me as a birthday gift!

...would love to try a Pfaff one of these days.

Hot pink really is great with black and blue... you'll see size pics soon!
