All's well

I'm still here.

But after a week alone with the kids, I'm pretty tired in the evenings, and I mostly feel like knitting rather than writing about knitting. So in lieu of actual inspiration, I give you a few random occurrences from this week:

  1. I made Maxime a Sock Monkey hat. Upon presenting it to him on Friday morning, he took one look and said "Aime pas ça!" (I don't like it). Émilie, on the other hand, was absolutely devastated that I hadn't made her one. *Sigh*
  2. I should be casting on for a pair of mittens for Maxime tonight, but I think I'm going to work on my new cardi instead. Bad mum, BAD MUM!
  3. A vodka cranberry juice is a fine way to welcome the weekend in style.
  4. I watched The Amazing Race for the first time EVER last Sunday, and I think I'm hooked. I hope Phil likes it!
  5. Speaking of Phil: he's visiting some kiting friends in Texas this weekend. It's 30 degrees there. If I sound bitter? That's because I AM. It's been grey and raining for the past WEEK here, and I've had enough.
  6. The kids stayed at their grandparents' house last night. My first day off and what did I do this morning? I woke up at 6:50, had a quick breakfast, and went out for a run. I need to learn how to relax, don't I?
  7. Speaking of running, after 4 months, today was the first time I listened to music while running. It changes everything.
  8. Kate-the-Enabler and Lemondrop (aka Kate's husband, Chris) are officially the sweetest, most thoughtful people on the planet. When I got back from my run today there was a lovely breakfast tray waiting for me on my front step. I KNOW, right?
  9. Wee Bronwyn (aka Little Miss Enabler) is so cute, it almost makes me want to have another baby (I said ALMOST).
  10. I'm tackling the BBC Top 100 books of all time list, and reading Wuthering Heights for the first time. After discussing it with several people, I've come to the conclusion that it's best to read it as an adolescent, all full of romantic notions of doomed love and what have you. Because as an adult? These characters are schmucks! Completely un-redeemable, first class dumb-asses.
OK, I've got a few finished objects to show you next post. I'm going to TRY to get some decent pictures tomorrow.

Happy Knitting Everyone!

Maybe that's why Bella likes that book but Edward doesn't ;)

Funny about the monkey hat. Knitting for kids is quick, cute and satisfying... but a bit thankless, hey? hehe.

I want a KTE and LD of my own! (Although I can't complain, I've got Maaike around the corner).

Any chance Maxime's hat would fit Emilie?

I spent a lot of time last night thinking of your husband.

Ha! I should explain, no?

He's got the FrankenFinger, I've got the FrankenHand. Brilliant me was slicing the meat out of a coconut and got distracted...only thing stopping the knife from coming out the other side of my hand was that it hit the bone. Deep DEEP cut. Lotsa stitches. I think this takes sympathy for Phil's plight a little too far!

Amazing race is a great show. I gave it up a few years ago 'cus there were too many things on at the same time, but it's one of the few reality shows that is actually smart, well thought-out, and really cool.

I hope you get a longer break from the kids soon, you deserve it!

Sorry to hear Maxime didn't like the hat. Or does he today? Does the hat fit Emilie?

I agree wholeheartedly on Wuthering Heights. I have read it a couple of times (once when younger and once as an adult)....or maybe I saw the movie when I was younger?... anyways, it just made me angry at Cathy and Heathcliff for being such asshats.

I don't like the Amazing race, either. oh dear. i am just not likin' anything am I? Don't take it personally...I just detest reality TV. I watched only one season of Survivor and I am still amazed it keeps coming back! WTF? I am somewhat alone in my opinion in this house though because my people like the dancing and singing shows. UGH.

Put the hat away for a week and bring it out again -- my guess is that Maxime might change his mind. It's too adorable!

Oklahoma and Texas were nas. Real nas! sunny all week long.

Plane cancelled coming back because of weather, ended up coming back at 22h30 instead of the scheduled 19h...and Tara waited for me :) thanks!
